Oliver Spencer

I picked up these Oliver Spencer shoes in London. I needed an everyday solid shoe. The shoe is a derby grain shoe in black.

I really like how sturdy these shoes are. The leather contrast between the smooth and scotch grain looks great. What impressed me the most however about these shoes is the sole. The Danite sole is a sturdy sole and is even used by the British army an by Oliver himself when he is hill walking. This really gives us an idea of how long these shoes should last.

While over there I was lucky enough to bump into Oliver Spencer. I was asking him about the stitching on the shoe. We discussed the stiching and a query i had about some stiching on my derbg shoe. He promised to speak to the shoe maker and to get back to me.

Oliver spencer currently has a number of stores in London as well as Canada with very helpful and really nice staff . He designs for men and women and all other information is available on his site.

I like the rolled up jeans and the nikes.

They really compliment each other. He told me the jeans are Levi's and made for cycling. I need to research these jeans some more.

The shirt is simple and sturdy and a great choice by the Hong kongese.

Stutterheim (streetstyle)

My brother Muiris was photographed by Stephen Moloney, a blogger in Ireland, wearing his yellow Stutterheim.

He teamed the look with some uniqlo jeans, Lanvin crocodile skin belt and a simple white shirt.

Bleu de Travail

I picked up this jacket in Paris over a year ago. I've worn it lots around Dublin. This is me wearing my bleu de travail with my girlfriend Sarah.

I fell in love with the simplicity of the cut and material, the functional pockets and its almost heavy shirt like quality. It looks like a worker's jacket and in France is known as the bleu de travail. A French family showed me some of their great grandfather's original bleu de travail jackets dating from the beginning of the 20th century and before.

It has become quite popular as a jacket in recent months, both on the streets and catwalk.

I photographed Thomas, in Dublin wearing a suit like version of the blue jacket. He tells me that there is one being made for me in Africa. I hope he's not joking.

Yellow Raincoat

I've been looking around for a raincoat for the last six months. I've been thinking about getting a classic yellow raincoat for a while now that strikes a balance between function and style. I remember some examples of yellow raincoats from childhood in a children's poster I had with some cartoon ducks in yellow raincoats and a yellow coat that a family friend wore on a trip he made across the Atlantic from Ireland to America that I remember from the cover of the book he wrote about it.

I love Swedish brand Stutterheim's raincoats since I first saw them at the Capsule Trade show in Paris last year. Their rain gear is functional yet aesthetically appealing and I've had my eye on their yellow version for a while.

This coat should be prove a particularly useful in rainy Ireland.

Balcaisí

This blog was set up as a way of expressing my ideas about fashion. The Irish word Balcaisí means rag, garment or clothes, and was a word used quite a bit by my Father during my childhood. I have included some photos of a shoot I did a few days ago. More to follow!!!
